Precision, Somatics, and Modern Movement Science in the Heart of the Old Port

A three-day immersion blending Iyengar-based precision, somatics, and modern movement science, co-taught by Witold Fitz-Simon and Erin Ehlers.

Designed for students with an established practice, this weekend offers thoughtful sequencing, detailed instruction, and the use of a full range of props to deepen awareness and skill. Sessions are balanced with time to integrate, rest, and explore Portland’s Old Port.

Throughout the weekend, we will explore:

  • Synergy of Approaches: Our co-teaching approach offers a multi-layered look at the body, ensuring every student receives nuanced, creative cueing and individual attention.

  • Intelligent Sequencing: Rather than a rigid schedule, the weekend is thoughtfully paced to allow your nervous system to stay regulated. We balance active, informative work with time to integrate, relax, and absorb the practice.

  • Somatic Principles: Deepen your internal awareness using somatic tools that make complex alignment feel intuitive and accessible.

Their descriptive and eloquent instruction helped me refine my awareness and deepen my understanding of actions within yoga postures. This immersion provided fresh perspectives and felt like a truly unique yoga experience.

Connection & Community

We believe yoga is as much about the community as it is about the individual. To foster that "retreat" magic, we invite you to stay for a Social Gathering after Friday’s second session. Join us for tea and light refreshments to connect with Witold, Erin, and your fellow students as we kick off the weekend together.

Is This Retreat Right for You?

This immersion is designed for students with at least six months of consistent practice who are ready to move beyond the everyday grind and explore their potential in a supportive, high-level environment. Yoga teachers will appreciate the creativity of the classes.

Meet Your Guides: Witold Fitz-Simon & Erin Ehlers

The immersion is co-taught by two experienced teachers with complementary expertise:

Witold Fitz-Simon: With over two decades teaching yoga and the Alexander Technique, Witold integrates principles of developmental movement and embodied anatomy into a dynamic practice. Based here in Portland, Maine, he empowers students to cultivate deeper body awareness, move with greater skill and efficiency, and foster a more authentic connection to themselves.

Erin Ehlers: An experienced Portland yoga teacher and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), Erin brings a wealth of knowledge about the body informed by modern movement science and her Iyengar yoga background. Her insightful, slow-and-deep style encourages self-inquiry, curiosity, and integrates yogic philosophy as the foundation of the practice.

Witold and Erin share a passion for creative, insightful yoga instruction. Their combined expertise in alignment, anatomy, somatics, and mindful movement provides a rich, multi-layered learning environment unique to this yoga intensive.
