Ayurveda Self-Care for Fall
Sunday, October 25, 11-2 pm
$75
Discover how India’s ancient healing system can inform your self-care this fall.
Join Kate O’Donnell and Rich Ray for an afternoon of discussion and practice designed to expand your understanding of Ayurveda, deepen your yoga practice, and bring Ayurvedic principles into your daily life.
If you’ve been curious about Ayurveda — but unsure where to begin — this is an excellent opportunity to learn from two experienced teachers in the field.
If you have any questions, please email devon@unayogaportland.com
This 3-hour workshop will be divided into two sessions, with a short intermission to enjoy tea, move your body, or connect with fellow students.
In the first session, Kate will introduce the fundamentals of Ayurveda and explore how living in relationship with natural rhythms — the changing seasons, the movement from sunrise to sunset, and the phases of life — can support health and wellbeing.
Fall, as we transition toward winter, is an especially valuable time to establish simple preventative practices. Kate will explore diet, daily rhythms, and self-care techniques designed to support digestion, immunity, and resilience throughout the colder months.
In the second session, Kate and Rich will explore Ayurveda’s understanding of the mind and mental states.
At the heart of this session are the Mahagunas — Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas — three qualities of mind described in both Yoga and Ayurveda. These qualities are always at play, shaping our thoughts, moods, and behaviors. You’ll learn how they function, why they matter, and how cultivating Sattva — clarity, calm, and balance — can support greater steadiness and wellbeing.
You’ll leave with an expanded understanding of Ayurveda and accessible practices you can bring into your daily life.
